In the Preface of my forthcoming book, Why We Must Go to the Stars, I state the following:
I claim that the human race must reach out—starting today—to explore other solar systems, and that we must begin to colonize worlds in those solar systems. If we do not do this, human civilizations will go into decline, our species will become stagnant, and we imperil the very survival of the human race. We can accomplish this great task with a combination of public and private monies. Interstellar exploration and colonization will strengthen humanity in the long term, will ensure human survival, and will lead to short-term and long-term economic benefits.This is the premise that I start from in this blog, as well. I invite readers to consider what I have to say, and to respond. I welcome questioning and debate, as long as it they are conducted in a civil manner. Nothing is beyond question here. I will be presenting material that is of life-and-death consequence, for the entire human race, and I look forward to what you have to say about it.
